Many of projects completed at Summerfest came from their campaign, “What makes you smile?”. It was a question that came into play with many of my pieces, aiming to connect people and to think about what would make them smile. A lot of conceptualizing, illustrating, organizing and designing in relation to Summerfest and its current branding is illustrated through these next few projects.
STICKER DESIGNS (& OTHER ILLUSTRATIONS)
A few illustrations that showcase Summerfest stickers that are either in the Summerfest app, exist as real stickers, or are sticker ideas. They are meant to showcase the fun aspects of Summerfest, that include friendship, excitement, and emotion.
STREET TEAM T-SHIRT DESIGN
The design is meant for Summerfest’s street team to wear when attending promotional events. For this project, I was given the task to  work with one color and this year’s branding, that included the text “Summerfest Makes Me Smile” and “#SmileOn”. Since Summerfest is a music festival, I decided to abstractly paint various guitars on the shirt to showcase similarity and diversity. I aimed to create a piece that was neutral and could be worn comfortably by either gender.
STreet team car
For this project, I worked closely with my bosses to create a street team car that transported Summerfest’s street team to different locations. This design had many factors to think about, particularly placement, how the design would compliment the car, and creating a simple, but effective design that wouldn’t get distorted. For the color choices, out of the three core Summerfest colors, we chose to go with the brightest ones so that it would be the most noticeable car on the street.
